![]() ![]() I take it a lot of people don't understand the beauty of iMessage and to a lesser extent Hangouts. Google it, there are innumerable threads on the issue. I'm okay using two apps on iPhone because I'm the odd man out.Įxcept it doesn't, at least not the notifications. Need seamless SMS Texting and messaging on Android in one app that's easy for non-techie parents and family members to grasp. With Hangouts, you have to choose prior to sending but at least there's an option (and I managed to educate my mother on the differences). ![]() Here's the deal, my mother and wife don't have free SMS Texting on their plans so it'd be nice to have an app like iMessage that would send 'messages' when on wifi and SMS when on cellular and do it seamlessly if at all possible. It's not just flaky between iOS and Android either, it's even flaky between 2 Android devices. Even Hangouts voice calls fail to go through quite frequently. Unfortunately, it just doesn't deliver notifications reliably resulting in a lot of missed communication. It sounded promising because it could send and receive both SMS Texts and 'messages' within the same app. Luckily they're family otherwise I'd feel like a pretty big idiot. I turned to Hangouts and managed to convince everyone to install it. I'm an iPhone user but everyone else in my family is on Android so using iMessage is obviously a no-go for our situation. I tried to like this app but it's just so unreliable. ![]()
